KAENON POLARIZED ATHLETES DOMINATE THE THIRD ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE PADDLE
Led by one of the world’s greatest waterman, Australian Jamie Mitchell, Kaenon Polarized paddlers dominated the largest SUP event in America, the third annual Battle of the Paddle in Dana Point, California. Kaenon Polarized has been involved with this event each year since its inception, and again this year proved that our roots are deep in the Stand Up Paddle movement—a sport and a lifestyle that is catching fire around the world.
Wearing Kaenon’s brand new, yet-to-be released Hard Kore in White with G12 lenses in Saturday’s bright conditions, and the new Hard Kore in Titanium finish with C12 lenses in Sunday’s overcast skies (NEW HOLIDAY 2010 PRODUCTS AVAILABLE NEXT MONTH); Mitchell racked up a handful of victories in the various races, winning the long distance 14’ division, finishing first in the team relay, and coming second in the individual surf race. The latter was chaotic due to the head-high surf conditions and the 130 competitors all battling for the lead position on the first inside mark, with many casualties. Jamie is respected world-wide for his big wave surfing, tow-in, paddle-in and stand up, and is the most dominant ocean racing prone paddler ever, with a string of nine consecutive World Championship Titles, breaking his own Molokai Channel Crossing world record several times.
Several of Kaenon’s female athletes also made waves in their divisions, with Karen Wrenn (Soft Kore, White Pearl, C12), Anik Wild (Soft Kore, White Pearl, C12), and Jennifer Kalmbach (Calais, Abalone, G12), all taking their fair share of podium time. Karen and Anik went head to head in the women’s long distance, finishing second and third respectively, while Jennifer took fourth in the Women’s Individual Surf race.
